The thermoluminescence glow curves and spectra of doped, impure, and pure YAG crystals are investigated. The investigation of coloration and bleaching supports the impurity-independent, intrinsic character of the low temperature coloration and thermoluminescence centres and the dependence of the room temperature coloration centres on impurity ions and stoichiometric defects.
