This paper concerns a three-terminal superconducting device which is called an injection-controlled link. First, experimental static characteristics of the device made of Nb and Al are presented and discussed. Then, the performance of the device as a switching element is theoretically calculated, and it is shown that a switching delay of less than 1 ns is possible. Finally, the hot-spot growth speed, which partly determines the switching delay, is measured and compared with the simulation results.
