The energy width of the central peak of SrTiO 3 was investigated using a backscattering spectrometer for neutrons with an energy resolution of 0.85 mu eV (FWHM). In a temperature range between T c and T c +12K no line broadening was observed within an experimental upper limit of 0.08 mu eV. Measurements at a q-value of 0.006 AA -1 away from the 1 / 2 (113) point at temperatures up to T c +2.5K showed also no broadening.
