Several aspects of the quantum transport in thin metallic films and wires with rough surfaces are considered. In the presence of surface scattering Matthiessen's rule for resistivity is violated. This results in the modification of the Kondo effect in thin films with magnetic impurities. The interference between surface scattering and ordinary impurity scattering is also discussed within the weak localisation scheme.
