However, O'Brien in 1942 had reported a case of middle cerebral aneurysm in a man whose twin brother had died eight years previously under conditions strongly suggestive of subarachnoid haemorrhage. A similar pair of identical twins was described by Jokl and Wolffe (1954). Since 1954 several reports of intracranial aneurysm in more than one member of a family have been published.
