Prospective study demonstrates minimal complications and reliable recovery following arthroscopic suture anchor repair for rotator cuff tears, highlighting the safety of prompt surgical intervention.
Background: A study of functional outcome of arthroscopic rotator cuff tear repair by suture anchor. Methods: A prospective study was conducted over a period of around 18 months. 30 patients within 40-60 years with rotator cuff tear fulfilling the selection criteria admitted in Department of Orthopaedics at tertiary health care hospital, Surat were operated using arthroscopic repair technique. Results: 19 male and 11 female patients were recruited with an age of 40 - 60 years. Road traffic accidents (RTA) were the most common mechanism of injury. Majority of cases were operated within 5 days of the injury. Only 2 cases had minor complications of which one superficial infection and other was stiffness. No major complications were noted in any patients. Conclusion: Based on our experience and results, we concluded that arthroscopic rotator cuff tear repair by suture anchor appears to be safe and reliable method that has good long-term results in the treatment of rotator cuff tear in patients aged 40 to 60 years.
