Analysis of the Linewidth of Distributed Feedback Laser Diodes Using the Green's Function Method

To calculate the linewidth of distributed feedback laser diodes accurately, Green's function method was used. The discrepancy from the conventional theory is given by a correction factor, which is rather larger than unity with no mirror facets. The correction factor approaches unity by increasing the facet reflectivity or with a phase shifter.
