A gas‐chromatographic investigation of the thermodynamics of solutions of monosubstituted hexane, cyclohexane, benzene and pyridine derivatives and of some tetra‐alkyl compounds in apiezon M

From retention volumes, determined over a range of temperatures, standard partial molar free enthalpies, enthalpies and entropies of vaporization from infinitely dilute solution in apiezon M are calculated and discussed. Particular attention is paid to the possibility of restricted molecular rotation of the solute molecules, the validity of Butler's additivity rule for the free enthalpy of vaporization and the applicability of the regular solution theory to the enthalpy of mixing of the liquid solutes with apiezon.
