What are the neuroimaging findings in pediatric patients with severe HFMD infected by EV71?
Neuroimaging is utilized to identify central nervous system damage in pediatric patients with severe EV71-induced hand-foot-mouth disease.
Neuroimaging may aid CNS assessment in severe pediatric EV71 HFMD; case reports leave open need for prospective validation.
Pediatric hand-foot-mouth disease caused by human enterovirus 71 has been prevailing in recent years in China. As it involves the central nervous system, the mortality rate remains high. The diagnosis of EV71 induced CNS damage is the key to improve the treatment of severe EV71 infection. In our study, we performed neuroimaging in patients with severe HFMD infected by EV71 and presented our findings.
