Summary A gas-liquid chromatography method was developed for milk and applied to good and feed-flavored milks. All fresh milk contained ammonia, propyl and hexyl amines. Feed-flavored milk contained higher concentrations of n-propyl and n-hexyl amines than were found in good-flavored milk. Addition of these amines to milk revealed that they caused a weed or feed type flavor.
