A method of correction and or production of kyphosis and lordosis is presented. Correction is obtained by segmental posterior traction through circumlaminar stainless steel wires brought to two paravertebral bars at each segment or by preformed paravertebral bars to force the spine to a preconceived balanced lordosis and kyphosis. Segmental fixation affords an effective method of correction and produces postural curves, as well as rigid internal fixation, that need no external postoperative fixation.
