The plastic deformations occurring during technological high‐temperature treatment of silicon wafers are discussed and are simulated experimentally by means of static loading. From the results obtained a critical stress‐time product is derived which can be used for a quantitative estimate of the maximum permissible load of the wafer during heating and cooling treatments in technological processes.
