An electron bombardment furnace has been successfully used in conjunction with a specially designed extensometer to measure thermal expansion coefficients up to 2300°C. In order to calibrate the apparatus, thermal expansion coefficients of tungsten from 1700 to 2300°C have been measured. The results are in good agreement with the data of Worthing and V'Yugov and Gumenyuk.
