Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) may cause lower cervical subluxation associated with severe myelopathy. In cases with widespread erosion of the vertebral bodies an anterior approach with interbody fusion can be performed after the reposition. Indications for operation are briefly discussed. Three cases operated upon during 1973 are reported.
