Expressions which allow calculation of the refractive indices and direction of the refracted rays as functions of the angle of incidence in birefringent crystals, are derived for uniaxial and biaxial non-absorbing crystals. These expressions are given in a directly utilizable form for practical use in linear and nonlinear optics experiments, provided that the principal refractive indices of the studied crystal are known.
