The gradient of potential from the current contact of a mono-core MgB 2 /Fe wire along the wire was monitored for various transport currents and external magnetic fields. It was found that the current transfer length is below 1 cm for applied external field 5.2 T and critical current 31.68 A. The measured results are compared with those obtained from a finite element method (FEM) analysis. The interval of resistivities for the MgB 2 /Fe interface reactive layer was estimated by FEM analysis. Resistivity of this layer is more than two orders of magnitudes larger then iron resistivity.
