This topical review examines work on the magnetothermoelectric properties of semiconductors that has appeared since the major review by Gallagher and Butcher in 1992. The focus is on the field dependence of the thermopower of degenerate two- and three-dimensional systems, both diffusion and phonon drag. The main conclusion is that the experimental observations on electrons, holes, two-carrier systems and composite fermions are all consistent with physical models and predictions based on the Boltzmann equation. A brief review of the possible effect of weak localization on phonon drag is also given.
