Calculations of radial momentum distributions and Compton profiles have been carried out, in the framework of the impulse approximation with a variational formalism, which gives about 98% of the correlation energy for the ( 1 S) Be and ( 1 S) Ne atoms in their ground state. It is shown that the corrections to the Compton profiles and radial momentum densities due to the electron correlation are not always negligible, even though these quantities are related to one electron operators, and that these effects must be taken into account in order to compare with increasingly precise experimental results.
