A 22-year-old female presented with an uncommon association of Ebstein's anomaly and rheumatic mitral stenosis, highlighting the complex hemodynamic interplay of these lesions.
Why the study?
Rheumatic mitral valve disease is common in developing countries, but its association with Ebsteins anamoly is very uncommon.
Case Report (n=1)
This case report highlights a rare clinical presentation involving the coexistence of Ebstein's anomaly and rheumatic mitral stenosis.
May prompt consideration of Ebstein's anomaly in atypical rheumatic mitral stenosis; leaves open optimal management for this rare coexistence.
Ebsteins anamoly is a rare congenital disorder which is a common cause of congenital tricuspid regurgitation.Rheumatic mitral valve disease is common in developing countries but its association with Ebsteins anamoly is very uncommon. We describe a 22 year old female with complaints of dyspnea and palpitations diagnosed with Ebsteins anamoly and rheumatic mitral stenosis. The hemodynamic consequences and the interplay of these lesions are discussed.
