A particular solution of Poisson's equation and of Fick's second law leads to the determination of the chemical diffusion coefficient for the near‐to‐surface layer of nonstoichiometric oxide materials. The proposed method is based on the work function measurements applied to determine the surface reequilibration kinetics. Metal deficient oxide is taken as an object of quantitative considerations.
