Evaluating the structural performance of RC wall members subjected to tsunami-induced forces requires an understanding of their residual capacity against aftershocks. This study investigated the influence of out-of-plane damage levels on seismic performance through in-plane and out-of-plane loading experiments and finite element analysis. The key findings revealed that while out-of-plane damage corresponding to the yielding of wall reinforcement did not significantly affect the residual seismic performance, a significant deterioration in structural performance was identified following the initiation of concrete crushing.
