Experimental study demonstrates visible-light-driven dehydrogenative C(sp3)–N coupling using catalytic iodoform, indicating a viable photochemical route to valuable dihydropyrazoles.
We report herein a visible-light photochemical intramolecular dehydrogenative coupling strategy enabling C(sp3)–N bond formation for the synthesis of aza-heterocycles with a catalytic amount of the iodoform and the benzoyl peroxide (BPO) oxidant. The utilization of β-aryl ketone-derived N-sulfonylhydrazones as the substrates allows direct benzylic C(sp3)–N bond formation, providing an efficient protocol for the synthesis of dihydropyrazoles.
