Does balloon angioplasty and stenting improve symptoms in patients with iatrogenic pulmonary vein stenosis?
Balloon angioplasty and stenting is an effective intervention for providing symptom relief in patients with iatrogenic pulmonary vein stenosis following atrial fibrillation ablation.
May support stenting for symptom relief in iatrogenic pulmonary vein stenosis; hypothesis-generating case report requiring prospective validation.
Background: Pulmonary vein stenosis (PVS) is a rare complication following pulmonary vein isolation for atrial fibrillation. Cases summary: We present two cases of iatrogenic PVS, successfully managed with balloon angioplasty and stenting. Both patients experienced significant symptom relief and improved functional status following the intervention. Discussion: We highlight the importance of early recognition and intervention in PVS, as well as the complexities involved in long-term management, including surveillance strategies and restenosis prevention.

Timilsina et al. (2025) conducted a case report in Iatrogenic pulmonary vein stenosis (n=2). Balloon angioplasty and stenting was evaluated on Symptom relief and functional status. Balloon angioplasty and stenting successfully managed iatrogenic pulmonary vein stenosis in two patients, resulting in significant symptom relief and improved functional status.
