Progress on obtaining bounds on the exponential decay of sub-continuum atomic eigenfunctions is reviewed. A particularly simple bound is found for a sub-continuum eigenfunction of a two-electron atom. This bound is very natural, and it is shown to be essentially optimal. A generalization of this bound to an N-electron atom is suggested but not proved.
