Practical points in the ordering, regulation, and measure- ment of feeds for bottle-fed babies are discussed, and methods of minimizing the risk of quantitative errors are indicated. The employment of feeds providing 20 calories per fluid ounce for all infants, unless there is some special contraindication, is strongly urged on the ground that thereby (a) there is a much-reduced -risk of quantitative mistakes for the infant, (b) feeding is greatly simplified for doctors and nurses, and (c) labour is lessened in children's wards or day nurseries.
