Why the study?
Does displacing and stabilizing the heart during OPCAB alter right ventricular function and hemodynamic parameters in patients with triple vessel coronary artery disease?
Does displacing and stabilizing the heart during OPCAB alter right ventricular function and hemodynamic parameters in patients with triple vessel coronary artery disease?
Displacement of the beating heart for obtuse marginal artery anastomosis during OPCAB causes significant but reversible hemodynamic instability and right ventricular functional decline.
May require vigilance for transient RV changes during OM positioning in OPCAB; leaves open impact on outcomes in prospective trials.
Background: Hemodynamic derangement during the displacement of the beating heart in off-pump coronary artery bypass graft surgery (OPCAB) might be related with right ventricular (RV) dysfunction. This study evaluated the influence of displacing and stabilizing the heart, for the anastomosis of coronary arteries, on hemodynamic alterations and RV function in patients undergoing OPCAB.
