Differential thermal analysis in piston-cylinder apparatus has been used to detect the diffuse transition in PbF 2 up to approximately 15 kbar, above which signals could not be detected. Extrapolation to 1 bar suggests a transition temperature of approximately=400 (+or-15) degrees C, in good agreement with heat content data; transition temperatures vary approximately linearly with pressure, with slope approximately=10. 5 (+or-10-15%) degrees C kbar -1 .
