The phase diagram of the superconductor Bi 2 Sr 2 CaCu 2 O 8+x was studied near its melting point in air. The investigations have shown that during quasi-static cooling the process of solidification leads to a non-superconducting crystal (NSC) structure. The transformation from the NSC structure to the ordinary quasi-tetragonal structure (c approximately=30.9 AA) takes place in the solid state during the annealing process by absorption of oxygen.
