A linear and nonlinear description of drift waves in a dusty plasma is given. Equations describing the simultaneous change of electron density, drift potential, and the charges on dust particles are obtained. They constitute a generalization of Hasegawa-Wakatani equations to dusty plasmas. It is shown that the main effect of dust is the enhancement of the nonadiabaticity of the system, implying strong effects on the transport process. {} 1996 The American Physical Society.
