[1-13C-5-12C]-alpha-ketoglutarate was synthesized in high yields and successfully eliminated the interfering C5 signal from alpha-ketoglutarate.
The carbon-12 enriched probe enabled unimpeded detection of [1-13C]-2-hydroxyglutarate in mutant cells without background peak contamination.
