May support conservative management in SAH-associated takotsubo; leaves open need for larger studies on predictors and therapy.
Case Report (n=1)
Takotsubo cardiomyopathy should be suspected in patients with subarachnoid haemorrhage presenting with ECG abnormalities, as it can cause severe but transient cardiac dysfunction.
Maekawa et al. (2013) conducted a case report in Takotsubo cardiomyopathy following subarachnoid haemorrhage (n=1). Subarachnoid haemorrhage was evaluated on Cardiac function recovery. A 67-year-old woman with subarachnoid haemorrhage developed takotsubo cardiomyopathy with an initial ejection fraction of 26%, which improved to 58% after 16 days with conservative management.
