May signal tumor dissemination risk with cardiopulmonary bypass in pericardial liposarcoma; hypothesis-generating, should not yet alter surgical practice.
Case Report (n=1)
This case report highlights a potential risk of early metastasis associated with the use of cardiopulmonary bypass during the resection of malignant primary pericardial pleomorphic liposarcoma.
Yie et al. (2010) conducted a case report in Primary pericardial pleomorphic liposarcoma (n=1). Resection with cardiopulmonary bypass was evaluated on Early postoperative multiple metastases. Resection of a huge primary pericardial pleomorphic liposarcoma using cardiopulmonary bypass was followed by early postoperative multiple metastases, suggesting a potential risk of tumor dissemination.
