Cyst evacuation may yield transient hemodynamic relief in compressive pericardial liposarcoma; leaves open durable strategies for this rare, aggressive tumor.
Case Report (n=1)
Primary pericardial liposarcoma is an exceedingly rare and aggressive tumor that can cause substantial cardiac compression, which can be effectively assessed using intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography.
Kindl et al. (2006) conducted a case report in Primary high-grade pleomorphic pericardial liposarcoma (n=1). Surgical evacuation and partial excision was evaluated. Surgical evacuation of cystic fluid from a massive primary pericardial liposarcoma dramatically improved cardiac function, though the patient died 2 months later.
