Silica coated magnetic nanoparticles (SCMNPs) were synthesized via microwave technique and used for removal of Cd(II), Zn(II), and Co(II) ions from water samples. These synthesized nanoparticles were characterized using Fourier Transforming Infrared (FT-IR), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Effects of variables such as pH, contact time, weight of nano-adsorbent, and concentration of the target metal ion on metal uptake capacity have been studied to obtain the optimum conditions.
