Results obtained by the method of isotopic substitution in neutron diffraction on the structural ordering in the glassy semiconductor g − (Ag 2 Te) 0.5 (As 2 Te 3 ) 0.5 show that the short-range order of the network former (g − As 2 Te 3 ) is retained and the Ag-Ag intermediate-range order is similar to that of the crystalline network modifier (c − Ag 2 Te). By comparison with results for the glassy fast-ion conductor g − (Ag 2 Se) 0.25 (AsSe) 0.75 it is concluded that silver nearest-neighbour interactions are responsible for the absence of cationic motion.
