Sulfonyl substituted cyclopropanes are formed in good yields on photolysis of p‐methoxyphenylsulfonyldiazomethane in the presence of alkenes. The reaction with cis‐ and trans‐2‐butene is stereospecifically cis, which may indicate that the intermediate sulfonylcarbene reacts in its singlet spin state.
