ERG staining successfully diagnoses an incidental pleural epithelioid hemangioendothelioma treated with surgical resection.
Why the study?
Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma is a rare neoplasm of vascular endothelial origin that rarely occurs in the lung and pleura, with most cases discovered incidentally.
Case Report (n=1)
No
This case report describes a rare presentation of epithelioid hemangioendothelioma in the pleura of a 58-year-old male.
Supports ERG IHC for rare pleural tumors; leaves open optimal management strategies.

Al-Derbas et al. (2023) conducted a case report in Pleural Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma (n=1). Video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) and pleural mass resection was evaluated. A rare case of pleural epithelioid hemangioendothelioma was incidentally discovered in a 58-year-old male and successfully diagnosed using ERG immunohistochemical staining followed by surgical resection.
