May support acute relief in post-ablation pulmonary vein stenosis; leaves open durability, safety, and need for prospective trials.
Case Report (n=1)
Balloon dilation can successfully treat pulmonary vein stenosis, a known complication of radiofrequency ablation for atrial arrhythmias, leading to immediate hemodynamic and symptomatic improvement.
Seshadri et al. (2002) conducted a case report in Pulmonary vein stenosis after catheter ablation (n=1). Balloon dilation of pulmonary veins was evaluated on Pulmonary artery pressures and degree of stenosis. Balloon dilation of the right lower and left upper pulmonary veins successfully reduced pulmonary artery pressures from 85/30 mm Hg to 55/20 mm Hg and improved acute symptoms in a 78-year-old woman.
