Supports multicomponent community interventions for hypertension in rural South Asia; hypothesis-generating and requires randomized confirmation before practice change.
Jafar et al. (2016) studied High blood pressure (n=412). Multicomponent intervention (MCI) vs. Baseline (pre-intervention) was evaluated on Change in mean systolic blood pressure (MD 4.5 mmHg reduction, 95% CI 2.3-6.7, p=<0.001). A multicomponent public health intervention significantly reduced mean systolic blood pressure by 4.5 mmHg (95% CI 2.3-6.7; P<0.001) over 3 months in rural South Asian communities.
