Methodological study demonstrates iron-mediated radical cyclization of Ugi adducts, suggesting a rapid route to medicinally relevant spirocyclic frameworks.
A concise and operationally simple two‐step protocol for the efficient synthesis of azaspirodienones through Fe III ‐mediated ipso ‐radical cyclization of Ugi adducts has been developed. The strategy combines the versatility of multicomponent Ugi reactions with the synthetic power of radical cyclization, enabling rapid construction of structurally complex and medicinally relevant spirocyclic frameworks from readily accessible starting materials.
