Optical design study demonstrates dual-wavelength polarization metagratings operating at 1550 nm and 1310 nm, indicating a path toward compact broadband polarimetric imaging systems.
Imaging systems based on polarization metasurface gratings can effectively reduce system volume, avoid filtering losses, and improve the energy utilization efficiency of polarization detection. However, the high dispersion characteristic of polarization metasurface gratings restricts their operation to a specific wavelength, making it difficult to meet the multi-wavelength and broadband spectral requirements of applications such as intelligent terminals, industrial inspection, and medical imaging. In this study, we introduce a multi-target optimization approach to design a dual-wavelength (1550 nm and 1310 nm) polarization metagrating for polarization imaging systems. The resulting imaging system achieves polarization efficiencies of 55.82 % and 56.85 % at the respective design wavelengths, with AOP, DOP, and EOP errors below 3.89°, 0.10, and 3.05°. Our work extends the applicability of polarization imaging and establishes a foundational step toward multi-band and broadband metasurface-based polarimetric systems.
