Complete surgical resection of IVC leiomyosarcoma fails to prevent multiple recurrences at 29 months.
Case Report (n=1)
This case report highlights the high recurrence rate and poor long-term prognosis of primary IVC leiomyosarcoma despite aggressive surgical resection of both the primary tumor and subsequent liver metastases.

Ishibashi et al. (2012) conducted a case report in Leiomyosarcoma of the inferior vena cava with liver metastasis (n=1). Surgical resection was evaluated. A 61-year-old woman underwent complete surgical resection for leiomyosarcoma of the inferior vena cava and a subsequent liver metastasis, but developed multiple recurrences 29 months after the initial surgery.
