Key result
Prior pelvic radiotherapy is linked to fatal primary bladder angiosarcoma and post-operative multi-organ failure.
Why the study?
Angiosarcomas of the urinary bladder are exceedingly rare and carry a dismal prognosis, typically arising following radiation therapy, smoking, or chemical exposure.
Population

Supports inclusion of angiosarcoma in differentials for post-radiotherapy bladder tumors; single case leaves optimal management undetermined.
Case Report (n=1)
Angiosarcoma of the urinary bladder is a rare but aggressive malignancy that should be considered in the differential diagnosis of vesical tumors in elderly men with a history of pelvic radiotherapy.
Cito et al. (2021) conducted a case report in Angiosarcoma of the urinary bladder (n=1). Radical cystoprostatectomy was evaluated on Patient outcome. A 78-year-old man with a history of pelvic radiotherapy developed primary angiosarcoma of the urinary bladder and died from post-operative multi-organ failure following radical cystoprostatectomy.
