Mouse strain differences in aortic geometry modulate WSS; leaves open translation to human plaque localization.
p-value: p=<0.05
Zhu et al. (2009) studied Atherosclerosis susceptibility (n=14). 129/SvEv mouse strain vs. C57BL/6 mouse strain was evaluated on Aortic arch geometry (shape, vessel diameter, branch locations) and hemodynamic wall shear stress (p=<0.05). Aortic arch geometry differed significantly between 129/SvEv and C57BL/6 mice (p<0.05), with lower shear stress at the inner curvature in the 129 strain corresponding to greater plaque involvement.
