Highlights the role of PLCgamma2 in osteoclast differentiation and suggests targeting it can suppress inflammatory osteolysis.
Phospholipase Cgamma2 (PLCgamma2) is a critical regulator of osteoclast differentiation and basal bone resorption, which was demonstrated by Kertesz et al. in agreement with previous reports(1). The role of the PLCgamma isoenzyme in bone resorption and in adhesion receptor signalling of osteoclasts was further emphasized in a recent review(2) reinforcing the statements made by Kertesz et al.,(1). Moreover, Dr. Faccio's group provided genetic evidence that targeting PLCgamma2 can suppress inflammatory osteolysis(3). This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
