The findings of renal artery abnormalities in three hypertensive sisters have been reported as evidence of an hereditary developmental weakness of the renal arteries (1). We report the findings of fibromuscular hyperplasia of the right renal artery in two women who were daughters of identical twin mothers, in support of the concept of a genetic abnormality. Our patient, unaware of any consanguinity in her family, was a 41-year-old white woman known to have had labile hypertension for the previous 3 years. She consulted her physician because...References1. HALPERNSANDFORDVIAMONTE MHM: Renal-artery abnormalities in three hypertensive sisters. Probable familial fibromuscular hyperplasia.
