Does iloprost reduce symptoms and sympathetic dysfunction in patients with erythromelalgia?
p-value: p=<0.05
In a small pilot study, the synthetic prostacyclin analogue iloprost significantly reduced symptoms and sympathetic dysfunction in patients with primary erythromelalgia.
Kalgaard et al. (2003) conducted an RCT in Erythromelalgia (n=12). Iloprost vs. Placebo was evaluated on Need for cooling of affected skin and vasoconstrictor tests following Valsalva's manoeuvre and contralateral cooling (p=<0.05). Iloprost significantly reduced symptoms (p < 0.05) and sympathetic dysfunction (p < 0.05) compared to placebo in patients with erythromelalgia.
