Vasopressin dose-dependently diminishes photoaffinity labeling of regulatory subunit RI in rat medullary collecting tubules.
Why the study?
Little is known of the regulatory steps in the cellular action of vasopressin on the renal epithelium subsequent to cAMP generation.

Does vasopressin affect cAMP binding to regulatory subunits of cAMP-dependent protein kinase in rat kidney medullary tubules?
The study demonstrates that cAMP binds to regulatory subunits RI and RII in rat kidney medullary tubules, with type I being dominant in MCT, and AVP dose-dependently reduces RI labeling.
Gapstur et al. (1988) studied this question. Vasopressin (AVP) vs. controls was evaluated on Photoaffinity labeling of RI with N3-8-[32P]cAMP. In rat medullary collecting tubules, incubation with vasopressin markedly diminished the photoaffinity labeling of regulatory subunit RI with N3-8-[32P]cAMP in a dose-dependent manner.
