Densities (ρ), speeds of sound ( u ), and viscosities (η) of l -proline in 1 mol·L –1 aqueous glucose/1 mol·L –1 aqueous sucrose solutions have been measured as a function of molal concentration of l -proline at temperatures of (298.15, 303.15, 308.15, 313.15, 318.15, and 323.15) K. Using the ρ and u data, the partial molar volumes (ϕ v o ), transfer partial molar volumes (Δ tr ϕ v o ), isentropic compressibilities (κ s ), partial molar isentropic compressibilities (ϕ k o ), and transfer partial molar isentropic compressibilities (Δ tr ϕ k o ) have been computed. The viscosity B -coefficients of the Jones–Dole equation also have been computed. The κ s values decrease with increase in molal concentration of l -proline and also with increase in temperature. The ϕ v o increase and ϕ k o decrease with an increase in temperature. The Δ tr ϕ v o values increase and Δ tr ϕ k o values decrease with an increase in temperature. The trends of variations of experimental and computed parameters have been discussed in terms of hydrophilic–ionic group and hydrophilic–hydrophobic interactions operative in the systems.
