Elevated i-PTH and Ca x P linked to rare cardiac calcified amorphous tumor during hemodialysis.
Why the study?
Tumoral calcinosis with skin ulcers in proximal limbs and calcified amorphous tumor of the left ventricle are rare complications in hemodialysis patients, warranting detailed case reporting and literature discussion.
Case Report (n=1)
This report describes a rare case of a hemodialysis patient developing both subcutaneous tumoral calcinosis and a calcified amorphous tumor in the left ventricle.
Alerts clinicians to monitor dialysis patients for ectopic calcification; leaves open whether i-PTH and Ca×P drive tumoral calcinosis and cardiac CAT.

Mitsunaga et al. (2001) conducted a case report in Tumoral calcinosis and calcified amorphous tumor of the heart in end-stage renal disease (n=1). Hemodialysis was evaluated. A hemodialysis patient developed rare subcutaneous tumoral calcinosis of the upper extremities and a cardiac calcified amorphous tumor, with calcification likely linked to increased i-PTH and Ca x P levels.
